  About Author:   Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley (30 August 1797 – 1 February 1851) was an English novelist who wrote the Gothic novel Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus (1818), which is considered an early example of science fiction.[2] She also edited and promoted the works of her husband, the Romantic poet and philosopher Percy Bysshe Shelley.  Summary: Frankenstein begins when a young man named captain Walton takes a ship into the Arctic Ocean he's hoping to make important scientific discoveries. His  ship gets stranded for a few days when a sheet of ice forms all around it, to his amazement he and his crew see a gigantic man about eight feet tall driving a dog sled across the ice until it disappears in the distance.  A little later they see a normal-sized man on another dogsled chasing the first one, this man is almost dead from exhaustion and exposure so they take him aboard. Before its publication, Salinger published several short stories in  Story  magazine and served in World War II. He just got kicked out of another all-boy's school called Pencey.
