About Swami Vivekananda
Swami Vivekananda, born Narendra Nath Datta was an Indian Hindu monk and chief disciple of saint Ramakrishna. He is best known for introducing the Western world to the Indian philosophies of Vedanta and Yoga. He was also instrumental in bringing Hinduism to the status of a major world religion during the late 19th century. He represented and introduced Hinduism at the Parliament of the World’s Religions in 1893 in Chicago, and is often termed as India’s ‘Patriot Saint’. He was the Founder of the Ramakrishna Mission and Ramakrishna Math.
